The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) released video footage showing long-range drones wreaking havoc on five Russian military bases last year.

The Alpha Group, an elite special forces unit, was responsible for the military operation. According to them, a total of 15 aircraft (including 11 Sukhoi and MiG fighter jets) were “incinerated.”

Three helicopters and a Antonov An-26 cargo aircraft were also destroyed in the attacks, causing losses exceeding $1 billion, according to the SBU.

“The enemy is accustomed to feeling safe in the rear. But for Alpha, a special operations unit of the Security Service of Ukraine, distance has long ceased to be a limiting factor,” the SBU said.

“Last year alone, five military bases were struck by our long-range drones. As a result, the aggressor state will be unable to operate 15 aircraft. The damage has been confirmed by exclusive footage.”

“In addition to military equipment, ammunition and fuel depots at the airfields were incinerated. With these attacks, the Alpha unit of the SBU inflicted losses exceeding $1 billion on the enemy,” the service added.

Ukraine did not clarify exactly when the attacks were carried out, only stating that they took place in 2025. In June of last year, Ukraine had already announced that 117 drones from Putin’s military arsenal, valued at $7 billion, had been destroyed.

Called Operation Spider Web, the mission, “executed to perfection,” had been meticulously planned over a period of 18 months, according to President Zelenskyy.

“A brilliant operation was carried out on enemy territory, targeting only military objectives, specifically the equipment used to attack Ukraine,” he said at the time.

“Russia suffered significant losses, fully justified and deserved. 34% of the strategic cruise missile carrier aircraft stationed at air bases were hit.”

“Our agents are operating in various regions of Russia, across three different time zones. And the people who assisted us were removed from Russian territory before the operation and are now safe,” the Ukrainian president concluded.

Peace talks are scheduled for next Sunday (the 1st), but according to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian intelligence reports indicate that Russia is planning a major aerial attack in the coming days.

He explained that the continuation of these attacks hampers efforts to reach a peace agreement. According to Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, Russia launched more than 6,000 drones against Ukraine in the last month alone.
